Somebody get the pig a glass of champagne!!

Nicolette Hanh Niman writes in the New York Times -

"As a cattle rancher, I am comfortable raising animals for human consumption, but they should not be made to suffer. Because we ask the ultimate sacrifice of these creatures, it is incumbent on us to ensure that they have decent lives"

Read the article here

Don't know what to say, people are ok with killing animals to satisfy their hunger, but, they would like that the animals they eat, live in good conditions. Talk about human(pig) rights in the stomach!!

Your is a very irritating vegetarian reaction to what Nicolette said.
She was talking about the living conditions of the animals in the ranch and wasn't talking about what happens to dead animals once they are consumed!

Vegetarians should realize that even plants are living beings, and when you eat them, you make an equal (not lesser!) sin by killing them.

Such comments coming from a well educated person are really saddening.

well anonymous..i am not promoting vegetarianism. It is a person's choice what he/she wants to eat, I do not have problems with that.

The post is more of a sarcastic remark as to why would someone care if the chicken they ate got a good bed to sleep on or not.

Ok... tell me one thing dont you like fresh food/vegetable ??
Are you ok with the vegetables grown in shity place ?
No right.... same is the case here, with so many desease spreadig around in poultries, one has to be sure about the condition where these are kept/raised.
I beieve, atleast now you have something to think about... pls think rationally and unbaised.

dude..you did not read the article it seems. The author is asking for better living conditions for the pig not due to sanitary concerns but out of sympathy..more like a human rights issue...that is why i made this sarcastic remark.
The fight is not between vegetarianism v/s meat eaters.
